Hi I had a ford focus st razz past me earlier whilst out on my bike. I was cruising but I thought I would have a little fun. The focus was begind another car and took them both temporarily going quite quick on an A road. Once I had passed the vehicles the focus overtook the other vehicle and I pulled in as it was approaching quickly on my right. All well and good. Well I was getting ready behind the focus to nip past him and some blue and red leads operated in the focus. Blue in the light clusters and blue/red in the back of a head rest or some sort of post. The ones in the back of the headrest thingy were only about 3 inches long in total. Needless to say game over and I dropped back.

2 questions really. If it had been a couple of police officers would I have been pulled over for a talking to or would I just get a nasty surprise in the post?

Or is it posible it was a couple of toerags with a tricked out focus? It was an 08 plate vehicle with no extra ariels.

Sounds borderline genuine, although I do know of one little tvvat who has blue/red leds in the headrests of an old Escort estate.

Several local Police forces in our area have similar 'unmarked' or 'divisional' cars with covert lights and no aerials.

Glad to hear that no elderly British motorcycles were harmed during this thread, BTW..... smile

Take registration, report to local rozzers. If genuine then no problem, if fake then they will do the necessary. I would hope that any genuine covert car with lights would also have sirens too.

Could be SOCA or one of the other agencies that require blues and twos on civilian vehicles.

Could be genuine, there is an orange focus ST where I live, which is an unmarked cop car, no aerials etc
But you never know so not worth risking it

Thanks all for your input. Will have to wait and see if they had a camera on board. Never heard of SOCA craig. Just googled them. If it was them i'm glad I did not upset them :-)

The fact that's its an 08 focus make it seem genuine but as they didn't pull you over so I doubt anything would come of it. one of my mates had a car race up behind him with flashing blue lights in the dark so he slowed and started to pull over and it was a silver MG-F that just raced off so there are people about doing that kind of thing.

You can turn the lights and sirens on seperately.

About this time last year, I was on the M53 slowly catching up with an old model blue x5 4.4 with tinted windows. I got about 30ft from him and he swerves into my lane brakes and flashes 2 red strobe LED lights in the rear window, then accelerated away from me.

I think its some sort of chav joke.

Well I just googled the first part of the registration. There are a several of cn08 dz* vehicles from the the welsh police force . Being I was in the midlands at the time I hope the lads in focus weren't active as it were. They were heading in the general direction of Wales too.

It had probably been on an out-of-area escort or support run. Might even have just been transporting a member of staff somewhere. They tend not to hang around even when not on a call.

5 door Focus STs seem to be the undercover police car to have these days. I've seen loads.
