Hi, Long time lurker and Newbie here after some words of wisdom from the PH collective.

Thinking of a secondhand supersaloon for weekend and roadtrip duties.

Remit is:

No more than £8.5k

Reasonably reliable (no four figure bills every two months)

Good Ncap rating (will be transporting my little un quite often)

Circa 300 - 400bhp

Manual box preferred but not a deal breaker.

I was thinking E39 M5 or C32 AMG then I ran out of options...
(out of these 2 is the C32 noticeably less sporty and slower?)

Thanks in advance.

I found this - http://www.pistonheads.com/features/default.asp?st...

If I were after a saloon that had plenty of get up and go and fell within your budget, I'd consider maybe looking at Evo's, as surely a VII must slip in this budget by now. I suppose the part where this falls a bit short is that they may be considered to be a little much for some people...noise, hard suspension etc.

M5 seems like a likely candidate!

damn laptop sticky keys! using the phone internet now. To add, the mrs will be driving it and hates jags. I've almost got my heart set on M5 but don't know if a 8k one would be trouble?

would have tried a evo or subaru but again swmbo dislikes the image plus the ncap is shocking on earlier evo's.

Not quite a super-saloon, but a Mazda 6 MPS? ~260bhp (300 with a remap), AWD, toys.

With an m5 there will be m5 running costs. But I would be very tempted to go for it and just hope and pray I could afford it.

Buy an Evo and crash it with wifey onboard, then buy a 2 seater for you and your child?

30 electric chairs, 30 stunning blondes with big boobs, marble floors, a fit receptionist and some decent scissors should see you right. would cost a bit more than 7k though hehe
Yeah 7k is a bit ambitious for a salon; and a super one at that!

It sounds like you need an M5..

I don't think you'd be happy with anything else

I've looked for the NCAP rating for Evo's but can't find any. Any links mate?
