I know I've got as perfect a combination of vehicles as I'll ever get...i.e. the ones that best suit my likes/dislikes and budget.

But I still get the urge to peruse Ebay and Autotrader for something else, be it cars or bikes.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Is the answer to buy and sell cars for profit?

I've always felt that loving cars won't make me a good trader in the same way that being an animal lover won't make you a good butcher.

My old man was a car dealer, had his own place, is retired now, He had some NICE metal in his day.

Now he drives a poverty spec derv vectra.

The trade killed the petrol head in him.

Don't do it!

Don't people just look for the fun of it though? No intention to buy. Once upon a time we'd buy Auto Trader on Thursday, pass it round the workshop during lunch break just for a look see. Entertainment value. The Internet has moved the Thursday lunch break 24/7 wherever you are. Entertainment more so.

Well I am exactly the same. I am constantly looking at cars I have no hope of getting insured on (I’m only 20), pointlessly checking what my insurance would be if I did buy that car … just in case, looking for different cars when I get the quote. I do all this knowing that I still have 2 years of no MOTs so I probably wouldn’t even get a new car if I could get insured. I’ve also wasted many hours looking on eBay for cheap broken iPods to try and fix to make a profit, even though the only resources I have to fix them would be google-ing fix my iPod.

I think we mainly do it hoping to find the perfect car, or iPod, for the perfect price, something we just couldn’t pass up on no matter what and until we find it its bloody fun looking.

I've been on autotrader/ph classifieds for the last 3 months solid. Viewed a few cars but nothing floats my boat these days. Nothing I can afford anyway.

I've always financed my cars but now I'm trying to buy with cash (albeit much less than before) I'm struggling

What's up with me?
