Whan at the TT i actually really liked the electric bikes, sounded like little jet angines.....well some of them anyway. Not so keen on the electric cars though.

Cant really imagine 200,000 people journying to La Sarthe in June to "watch" the racing, IMO the smell the noise the polution are part and parcel of motorsport why dont they just develop Bio fuel or some such product.This clean easily produced fuel is actually on the pump in Brasil,then you have the small issue of lack of tax revenue the country and world would go bust overnight, its just yet another stupid green dream, BTW how long do those nicads take to biodegrade? let alone the efect on the plannet LOL.

It's that that really irritates me. People can't see beyond the exhaust pipe.

We're locked into a mindset that assumes electrics and electronics are going to 'save the world' and replace all these 'dirty' mechanical devices reliant on 'finite' resources. However, these electronics are dependent on extremely expensive, energy-intensive-extraction rare-earth minerals.

Whichever way you look at it, rare rocks are far more 'finite' than any fuel that can be created from plants that can simply be re-grown. Mr. Metropolitan, with his inner-city-bound electric car seems blissfully unaware that all his favourite iGadgets are built using things we're very seriously in danger of running out of.

Look at that demand level. Can we keep up the same level of rare-earth extraction to 'electronicise' our 'analogue' technology?

I doubt it. Any 'green transport revolution' will have to be simple, easy to fix, with a quick-turnover renewability, and will have to work with existing technology and infrastructures.

Brazil has understood this, spot-on, for decades. I really can't understand why other countries don't follow suit - or is it because the oil industry is just too powerful?

In the last month I ve seen Tesla cars lapping Brands indy (in about a minute in the dry with a cetain pro driver) and electric bikes at Bmcrc (in the same time 4 seconds off stock 600 on the same day)meeting on the same circuit and sincerely hope this is not the future!
Zero atmosphere from the tyre noise and hum and the cars screeching tyre noise was plain annoying.

I will become even more of a historic fan if they are the future!

People have been racing assorts since someone said "first one to that bit gets a free something or other". Bikes, horses, dogs, planes, boats, canoes, wives, etc... Electric vehicles will be no different, and like the petrol equivalent, it will be somewhat a testbed for road going versions. You may not like the future, but that is currently the way it is going. That may well change with new synthetic, or easily accessible fuels, but ho hum.

Sorry Ive no interest,I will give F1,le mans,rallying,gp Bikes ect approx 8 minutes survival time with those boring silent electric motors its just plain pathetic how piston heads has changed, petrol heads where are you? If we dont start making a fuss it will be the end of motorsport as we know it!
Who would honestly camp by the side of the Mulsanne with no sound no downshifting crakling exhausts and noise? Sorry IMO its pointless.

I would miss nearly suffocating as the #1 warms up the engine wilst i am spanner checking my corner. Oh and nothing beats changing parts during a session on a hot car.
