Sold the car this morning-what next ?

The Boxster went this morning, as usual think it went a bit cheap but there you go.

Hunt now on for the replacement :-)

Someone called me about a MG RV8 this morning- are these any good ?

So far I thinking

Nissan 350Z
Jag XKR

got approx £10 to 11k to play with

Jag XKR would be my weapon ofchoice between them altough I have never driven the TVR. Have driven a few 350Z's and a few hundred XKR's .lol

The RV8 is a good looking car but whether its any good, I don't know

My understanding is that it's basically an MGB with a V8 under the bonnet and some plastic bumpers. I don't care how good it is, it's on my list of cars to own some day. I suppose it could be considered as something of a Rover Chimaera?

taking my time and having a good look this time didnt even consider a boxster last time until I bought (ebay is a bad place when you have cash in pocket)but the Chimaera is the favourite at moment. Does not seem to be loads in classifieds though, maybe bad time of year to buy?

Given that this is PH, Chim has to be the best answer. For something like that though, it's got to be worth holding out for a good 'un. Difficult when the money's burning a hole in your pocket...

A friend of mine nearly bought one once, but I talked him into a V8S instead.

Go get a drive in a Chimaera i am sure this will swing you round, but dont buy the first you see buy the best you can afford the sound and grunt wins you over you see

I've just noticed that the guy who started the topic below your when I clicked on it was called "TVR Moneypit". For me there is only one V8 of choice, and it is a Porsche.

Cayenne/Panamera? I don't think either of those are in his price range/anything like the sort of thing he's after.

The MG RV8 is massively out of date and realistically massively over priced, but there is no getting around the fact that it is seriously handsome, very exclusive and sounds wonderful. My neighbour has one that he uses as a summer toy rather than an everyday driver. Ive been very fortunate to have a drive in it and I would say that thanks to that live rear axle it is far more suited to quick cruising rather than balls out thrashing about but in fairness out of respect i didnt exactly thrash my neighbours pride and joy when i took it out Mechanically, his has been great but then it covers very few miles each year. Me? I'd have either a griff or a chimera any day over one

Sounds great and they look good, but not for me. If you're ever up in Scotland, I would like a shot though. How easy is it to get spares and servicing done?

Out of budget though but the monaro vxr ticks a lot of boxes, yes i'am also biased
