I killed Bambi
Discussion
Stupid thing ran straight in front and under the car.
Broke its back, it seemed.. But didn't die, just pathetically scrabbled around with it's front paws making sad noises.
This in a hire car with no deer-offing implements available.
What would you have done? It screams were slightly haunting, I must admit
Ps car undamaged, thankfully

Warwickshire, Pheasant, hit the windscreen.
Had an argument with the guy following who said that if I hit it I can't keep it (suppose to stop people purposely using their cars to run down birds)
Anyway I thought £200 for a new windscreen, I'm having it, flung it in the boot.
Landlady hung it in the garage for a few weeks, and made it into a stew, but she said it was a PITA as the meat was full of splintered bones.

You could call the cops, one of my relatives s police firearms and one of their stated roles is the humane destruction of wildlife. Alternatively give its head a good twist.
Surely that won't work with a deer?I had at least a dozen red deer run across the road in front of me a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately they were far enough away to stop easily. About a mile from there I had a very close call with one of them at night in an open car; it was a bit of a shock looking up at it as I passed by.
I'm very careful in those woods now.
Call the rozzers if it's in the road, leave it if not as it shouldn't take too long. I have hit one about the same size and i genuinely did feel quite bad...(right after the utter rage I had when I saw the damage).
I know Sussex have a 'humane' way of killing them which consists of a gun-type 'weapon' tht fires a bolt (bolt then comes back into said gun)...at which point a posh stick is stuck into the brain and the brain is 'whisked'.
NICE!

just drive over it again, maybe jam the head under front wheel first
however if you run over a cat, never admit to the fact or you will get hassled for being a pussy killer
tend to keep a shovel in the boot as well as a long extending wheel brace, not sure if I have anything that will fit it, but it is rather long and heavy, would be good to stun roadkill, downside is a chance of splashing deer brains over you...

I nearly collected a huge bloody dog deer on my bonnet a couple of weeks ago.
Fortunately, I was short by one second and the idiot beast was doing a rate of knots as it cleared the hedge, so just hit the road and leapt to the other side.
I've used that road for years and couldn't understand why so many vehicles went off into the trees in a place where loss of control is unlikely.
Now I know why....
