What will you drive when you're 60?

There are many to many derogatory slatings about "pensioner" cars on this forum and I appreciate that unless you've made provision for a nice retirement and that the Government have very intention of redefining a pensioner as a 72 year old, there must remain some hope for the crinkly members of PH.

So, assuming you will have paid off any mortgage you have in the interim and assuming current levels of VED, fuel prices but taking into account you will still have electric and gas bills and council tax and food bills, what car do you REALISTICALLY aim to be driving when you're 60?

I'm hoping that I will still have enough income to run the Mustang with limited mileage insurance and possibly SORN'ing it through the winter, albeit with the aid of a reasonable, rather than a state pension. 9 years to go...

I should say I like the idea of an Elise/Caterham but fear getting in and out would wear thin.

I've got 30 years to go and have a funny feeling we'll have very little chance to drive much of what's around now by then.

So, I aim to be driving a hovercar!

given that it's 30 years time we'll all be forbidden from driving ourselves around!

but if not.. well lets face it there'll be a focus-esque car that's relatively quick and good to drive that's electric or hybrid or fusion or whatever. so i'll just have one of those.

i was only thinking the other day that if i had won euromillions i'd buy a civic ima thing and fit it with type r suspension and lead the way in terms of actually making a hybrid handle. the crx is probably 'ok' but it doesn;t seem tot be setting the world on fire like it shoulda/coulda if honda had any sense...

22 years to go and whilst I'd love to still be driving something fun with the road conditions and traffic increasing I don't think I'll want to be driving at all.

Well I just have a few years (3) to go until I am 60, and I am guessing I will be driving a Freelander as that is what I buight a couple of weeks ago.

I also have an MX5 which I doubt I will still have then, but I certainly hope to still be driving my hillclimb kit car when I am 60.

My classic Mini which may well have had a few more rebuilds and be 50% carbon fibre but that would be ace in 30 years time.

By the time I'm 60 (33 years) I'll hopefully be driving everyone mad with my ranting of how it used to be.

As for actual cars god knows. So long as it isn't beige/champagne coloured.

Well, my dad was driving a TVR M-Series, a Sylva Stylus and a Healey Silverstone when he was 60, so I hope to follow the same sort of path. Doesn't seem to have slowed him down too much; he's 70 next year and plans to be away skiing around the time of his birthday.

Personally, I think a late Aston Martin DB9 or a Ferrari 612 would suit me quite nicely. Not convinced I'll have the money for it though, but I've got 33 years to go, so who knows...
