Airbags, have I just done something illegal or immoral?
Discussion
My airbag fault light appeared and online forum opinion pointed toward a faulty occupancy sensor in the passenger seat base. Nine pounds, one Ebay (170472977531) transaction and ten minutes under the passenger seat later, problem fixed with an occupancy bypass box.
However, thinking on the way home, what if I sell the car and someone puts a baby in the passenger seat, assumes the sensor has turned the airbag off, and the worst happens? How many thousands of cars are there on the roads where this is already the case, from private owners such as myself to, dare I say it, unscrupulous dealers wishing to cheaply extinguish a dashboard light?
Or am I just making a worrying over nothing?

assuming the car was brand new,
How do you know the air bag would go off in a crash?
How do you know it wont just go off randomly?
My mums car's airbag light started flashing when it was 4 months old, peugeot couldnt fix it/find anything wrong. Its been flashing for 10 years.
I wouldnt worry too much.

1) Don't worry
2) If you really are worried either fix it or tell the next owner when you sell it.
3) I don't see how anyone would assume the airbag was off with anything (let alone a baby seat) in it? The sensor will be to arm the airbag if the seat is occupied. All you have done is make it armed all the time. The situation with a baby seat in it is the same as it was.
