Is an Airbag Warning light an MOT failure ?

I have seen conflicting advice on this, so I am putting the question out....is an Airbag Warning light an MOT fail ?

Car is 2005 307 HDI ( not mine thank god ) and I have checked and cleaned all the connections under the seat without joy.

Anyone know how to reset it ? I had a look last night, couldn't even find the OBD2 port for my code tool =-(

I defy anyone to show me the regs that fail an airbag light.

The light on my brothers car is off and on all the time. The airbags in his car are more than likely not working, but working airbags are not a requirement to pass and MOT (since some cars don't have them, and if you do have an airbag steering wheel you can replace it with one that does not have an airbag).

No. My Bother's BMW has had its' light on for at least 3 MOTs now. No comments from the testers.

So would that apply to stuff like front fogs? Not a legal requirement to have them, so if one isn't working, I guess that is a fail.

Nope. Passed 3 in the Skoda without a single mention. It's the drivers seat, or rather the wiring to it, which I can't be arsed to fix.

No, front foglights, along with reverse lights aren't an MOT requirement, so if they don't work, you'll get an advisory at most.

Airbags aren't a fail. You'll get an advisory at most.

That's just a generalisation.

If you want the absolute facts I'm pretty sure the MOT stuff is covered in some depth on the DVLA site.

No it isn't an MoT failure but my son had his driving test cancelled because it was on! The car had passed its last 4 MoT's with it on

I was told by my local MOT tester that it was a fault if illuminated, but you could take the bulb out and "he wouldn't know it wasn't working"

If fitted it should work.

Amazed cars are passing with the light on.

No. It doesn't even have to be checked to light up at the startup porceedure.
