Very strange one this but by think one of you will either be able to hle me or know someone who can help

Basically, im working on a project in london, its an academy. We have a mock up room and for some insane reason they need an ambulance to practice/learn/whatever on the first floor. It was unfortunately a bit of an after thought and well the floor wouldnt be able to take it without modification and thats not even thinking about how we would get it in there.

Anyone got any bright ideas? it doesnt need to run so no engine etc needed. pm for a rough budget.

A fibre glass mock up with the interior of a real ambulance would be ideal

If you can source the rear box from a crashed/broken ambulance it may be the best solution. As far as i know they are often just differant backs fitted to the LDV/mercedes chassis so you should be able to source one from somewhere.

do you need the driving seats /front end?

alot of them are just a box at the rear , you could mock something up with plywood or mdf with some hinged doors and a blacked out window in the side ..paint it up in high vis with some stickers

well i presume its gotta be realistic enough but its the inside thats important. that needs to laid out to the same dimension etc as a real one.

We would be looking for someone to do this rather than ourselves.

A Coachbuilders might be intersted? anyone know or can recommend someone who might be suitable?

I would simply buy a second hand ambulance, take the box off and sell the chassis, should be doable?

have you tried contacting the people who make casualty/holby city? As they will use updated interiors, they might have older ones which you could have??

I dont have any contact details, sorry

I believe this is more PH appropriate:

Serious answer - you could try asking some of those party shops that do theme nights (or event organisers that do the same thing). If anybody would know where to get mockups of an ambulance, it'd be them.

the simplest answer would be see if you can get a copy of the drawings to get the dimensions

strip out a decommissioned vehicle for the interior cabinetry and the rear doors etc have the outside built up in situ and put the interior in - this is after all how they are made for real

what yuo need is this:

tape measure
notepad
digicam
local pub with a hard nut with a pint that you can knock over

before you know it you'll have an ambulance to hand with which to get the details you need
