Work out which the comp car tax is for both to help the decision making.

The x16d is a fine unit and revs cleanly more akin to petrol than diesel
Handling is better on the BMW , boot is bigger in the golf.
Es is bottom of the range not sure about the match.

I'd take the cash alternative if possible, but if I had to chose one of those two, it'd be the Golf.

The 116d is a 2.0 engine. Easily remapped. Spec is basic on an ES but non factory mods are cheap and easy.

Have a browse on babybmw.net before you decide.

Excellent handling car and with a remap and some cheap mods, you'll love it !

I'm Ecosse on that forum btw.

They are both pretty dull, just get the one with the lowest company car tax.

Nothing wrong with the 1-series at all, they drive very nicely. As said above, the 116d, 118d and 120d - possibly also the 123d - are the same engine in different states of tune (and numbers of turbos).

note you can not "map" a company car and if you tried it and found out you'd be sacked.
Likewise in reality even if you were allowed you'd have to pay more comp car tax

Between the two I think the Golf may be more comfortable.

But if there was a Volvo C30 or S40 available, get that instead.

Cost bik tax is important what does each cost
size do both fit your needs
golf mk6 is newly launched whereas 1 series is old and will be changed may not be an issue to you but might be.

Es is bottom of the range match is questionable but it is low

Well you can and I did, whether you'd get sacked is a matter for your Boss, If I found out one of my staff had I doubt I'd sack them...

Why would you pay more tax....? tax is based on C02 and price ex-factory....therefore nothing done post that will affect the comp tax.

well your breaking the t&cs of the conp car policy and specifically your driving the comp car without insurance. It is gross misconduct. It is highly likely you will be sacked even if the line manager disagrees hr can over rule.

because your co2 will be different once napped.

However I don't know any lease company which permits mapping under their t&cs and likewise NO conp car policy allows mapping of cars as it invalidates their INS policy. Remember it's a oval INS policy.

For the other person who said they did map their comp car without comp permission you are hifghly silly/lucky not to have been caught plus crazy as to why tour happy at driving round in an uninsured car. If say getti g sacked is the least of your worries conviction jail.

You may physically be able to nap any car but that doesn't make it legal. You could steal too and get away with it doesn't make it legal.
Also to post that you have done so on the Internet is pure genious. PH may well pass your details on as you have committed an offence and they will certainly not want to harbour criminlas.

Note I've forwarded your post to the moderators hope you don't still have that uninsured comp car any more for your sake
