I would 2nd that. Drove one not long ago and was slightly dissapointed. Not a bad car by a far stretch you just dont feel that you are in anything special

My mate Tim had an immaculate, low mileage one of these and it went wrong continually for three months. He ended up returning it to the dealer from whom he bought it and getting a full refund, saying that it was not fit to have been sold.

That said, they do look nice, especially in Imperial Blue.

from what I hear from most people on here, the 1.8 petrol (or the later TDci's) are the best ones to get. 1.6 is abit slow, the 2litre hasn't got much more to offer over the the 1.8 (aside from poorer mpg). In terms of driver enjoyment these are much better then anything in its class (including the more expensive germans). These are top of the list on my next car to get. either that, or an astra mk5 (H platform).

'Nippy' at best - but generally decent spec inside.

They are lacking in power but they have brilliant handling, when I had mine I wished they'd turbocharged the engine to give it the power the car deserved. For a mildly warm hatch you could carry huge amounts of speed through corners.

I'm 19.5, but by the time I've saved a bit I'll be or at least getting on for 20 with 2.5yrs driving under my belt and a years no claims (touch wood)

Insurance when 20 will be at least 2/3 the cost of the car I reckon. This is speaking from experience.

A fine handling car, no doubt, but crying out for more power.

But nice enough overall.
