First car insurance

Hi. I passed my driving test last week and my grandad has stopped driving so i was going to have his volkswagon golf. But the cheapest insurance i can get for it is 4300 pounds. My dad thinks if we sold the golf we would get 2000 pounds and he said he will give me 1000 to put towards another car and insurance. Does anybody know what cars there are for less than 3000 that have cheap insurance?

How old are you? Peugeot are doing a deal at the moment with 'free' insurance on a new 107 for people 21+, although think it's about £1700 up front plus the lease payments over 3 years...

Know little about used cars though - sorry!

Try getting a quote on Bell.co.uk and Admiral.

Put your dad and mum on you policy as named drivers. This reduces the premium massively.

I am certain you will be able to beat that quote. Keep on trying.

£1000 towards a car and insurance for an 18 year old!

Sorry but even if you get a car for free you still wont be able to afford insurance with £1000

The cheapest quote i got was with admiral and i already added my dad to it. My dad thinks i will have to get something else because its a 1.6 litre engine. Ill try bell.co.uk though thanks xx

Just got my 17 yr old daughter insurance on 1.25 LX FIESTA
£1000 as a learner rising by £350 if she passes her test
Had to get admiral multi car to get that price , maybe ask your dad if he could swap to multi car

im 18 and have a 1.1 citroen c2 and the insurance is £1900, but thats because im a boy so you could get it several hundred pounds cheaper, but you could pick up a C2 for about £2500-£3000 for a really early model.

I rang them to check prices etc. and ended up paying roughly £100 more than on screen quote for better legal cover , better hire car etc.
