Had a couple of chips and a small crack in a screen on a ML. Autoglass replaced the screen with the insurance excess paid by me.
Now, it has been fitted 2 weeks, and right away, there was a squeak / noise and I put it down to it bedding in and the sealant going off.
All has been fine, but today we had a frost and it has been noticeably colder outside. The squeak / noise is back. To me, it sounds as if the glass is moving within a rubber / sealer grip.
Is this something to live with, or should I ask for a re-fit?
I would love to hear from pros, so Glassman.....

Mistakes can be made. I had a recent windscreen fitted, mirror not re-secured properly which affected rain and light sensor and major wind noise. Guy who refitted it said that it would have leaked eventually due to the poor job.

Get on the blower to them.

If you can get down to Autoglass in Swindon, (I notice you sort of in that region), they have just done a first class job on my car with a heated screen. They have recently moved to a brand new premises and I was very happy with the staff member who fitted the screen under warranty.

If it didn't squeak before, but it does now... wink

Seriously, give them a call. Is it a squeak, or a creak?

Tried a few times today, but engaged.
It is like the sound of glass moving on rubber. A kind of friction squeak.

You appear to have given up on them already...

As much as I'm prepared to help you, the warranty is free... http://www.autoglass.co.uk/How-to-complain.5353.0....

Not at all, but it is our day off today and we wanted to enjoy our day rather than get wound up. Let me at them tomorrow!

There a several possibilities, all which point at the installation/installer, but let's see what they have to say about it. Keep us posted.

Update.
The same fitter came out again and instantly agreed there was a problem and spent the next 45 mins trying to make the noise stop.
He gave up and booked the car in the the depot. It now has another new screen, which so far is quiet.
The only niggle is they left the rear view mirror loose.
Will pop back in this week to get that sorted

FWIW, the mirror is on a spring-loaded retainer. There's no adjustment which could leave it 'loose'.

This mirror assembly is one of the fiddliest in the trade. Let them sort it, but it might be interesting to see what explanation they give.
