I don't think I do, I still use it as a heater on / off thing as a rule.

Do you just set yours to a specific temperature and leave it at that regardless of what it is like outside?

What I'm asking........is that how you are meant to use it? rolleyes

Yes...and yes. The only thing that I change is the direction of the air flow, depending on whether its heating or cooling the car.

Yes, set it to a temperature and leave it there. I tend to find that I fiddle 0.5C up and down occasionally, but no more than that.

It's a closed-loop control system for the temperature in the cabin. If you set it to 14C or 32C it'll try to achieve that temperature; it'll obviously overshoot a comfortable temperature.

Nope. If its cold I still turn it up to max on startup, then reduce it to a normal temperature once its warm.

I have it in my head that it'll warm up quicker that way, even though I expect the system just goes full heat, temperature reached, stop producing heat.

I'd like to use mine properly, but I'm sure the temp sensor if near the cup holder, so when I put a cup of coffee there the car thinks we are driving into the sun and blasts cold air at me.

I do genuinely think we were all better off with two rotary knobs: hot/cold and fast/slow

i still do this with the fan oven. and the boiler. and the car.

and fill the kettle to the brim. and the washer bottle. and the coolant tank to max...

Most cars now I think are more clever than this. Will start on cold for first couple of minutes, before opening the heater loop.

Don't tend to use it to be honest.

Was about 26 degrees outside. Lovely weather. Windows down, sunroof open. Why do you need to be enclosed breathing air conditioning all the time?

I'm with this guy - before I had Climate I don't remember devoting much attention to the heater controls. These days I seem to be fiddling with it a lot more, and it's rarely doing exactly what I want.

Opposite for me. Last car had two rotary knobs, I was forever fiddling with the hot cold to get it right, fast/slow was always set to slow unless demist required. Current car has 2-zone climate, always set to mono (hello ford owners) and 20C, unless it's really warm outside in which case we drop to 18.
