Destroying tyres
Discussion
I know this might sound daft but I've just taken delivery of a second hand Clio 172 which some eejit decided to fit some Triangle tyres to. These are on the front wheels the rears still have Michelin pilot sport 2's hence I am getting some weird handling characteristics (BAD understeer).
I was wondering therefore how do you guys suggest I destroy these tyres? They have a good amount of tread left so I don't just want to change them straight off.
Any ideas?

My mundaneo had Triangles fitted to the front too. Quite an apt name, really... You'd never guess they were round when trying to drive on them
And they seem to be made of titanium too - low grip in the dry, NO grip in the wet, understeer like it's going out of fashion, and barely any sign of wear after almost 20k miles...

I like the 6000rpm drop the clutch
unfortuantely I haven't had the car long enough to ascertain the health of the clutch to perform such an operation. I suppose that taking the old tyres off and selling them is sensible and would go towards the new tyres cost, doesn't sound like the funnest option so far.

Do silly too-much-throttle stuff that you'd only normally do in the wet, etc, safe in the knowledge that it's costing you nothing but useless rubber you want rid of anyway!
My Escort didn't get this luxury when its tyres needed to be wasted. Full throttle starts in the dry to move forward in traffic light queues got me some funny looks

Without potentially t
tting your car up you can't.
I'd never consider doing something like that to a car I owned

tted a car. My first car (corsa 1.2, it was a b
d) I ragged a little till I realised I couldn't afford to use it like that. It's just I can't cope with the thought of getting shot of what are legal tyres for no other reason than I don't like them. Blimey, what an odd bunch of suggestions from Pistonheads. Normally this place berates people who thrash their cars around car parks.
Anyway, I would get signed up to do some sort of airfield day. Put the crappy ones on the rear and have a blast throwing it round some cones. You'd have more fun, it's legal and you can learn a lot more than in Tesco car park.

Just change them asap. On another fourm I frequent a member had a set of decent tyres and "was" going to change them until he wrapped his car round a wall in the 2 day's before he was going to replace them
My housemate did the same. Got an Astra with 4 freshly fitted Triangles. Nearly went off the road twice in a week. Ordered 4 Bridgestones to be fitted on Saturday. Had to go to Dublin on Thursday evening, hit a little surface water, spun out, killed a lamp post, 40' of armco, spent 2 weeks in hospital in Dublin and off work for 3 months.Suicide Misson i am in agreement with. Guy from work a few weeks ago ended up rolling his Clio three times on a country road in the wet and the back end snapped out after a slight undulation in the road surface. Budget tyres are to blame here as he mentioned poor poor traction from the budget rear tyres before the accident!!!

I've got to agree with the sentiment of these Triangle tyres, they are utter sh
te!
I had them on my A4 when I bought it, brand new tyres all round (obviously someone put them on to sell the car)
In the wet they were seriously dangerous, after a nearly loosing at 15mph they came straight off for Goodyear asysemetrics.
Also, what concerned me was that when the new tyres were being fitted there was a random guy in tyre centre saying "why are you replacing those? They've virtually new and got loads of wear left on them".. I promptly said because they a danger to me, my family and other road users! and explained why..
He asked me if he could have them and I said, NO!
When tyre fitter heard what was going on he smiled and said I dont blame you for changing them.. these tyres (triangles) are dangerous.
