so does anyone have any views on retreads? Im thinking about getting some Kingpin Extreme snow and mud tyres. Only bad thing i have read is that they don't have the best lifespan - however im not bothered about that as they will only do v. low milage.

I imagine people won't like remoulds, but the small amount of info i found through google seemed to be positive, apparently most commercial vehicles use them and ambulances, fire engines, planes etc.

They look pretty aggressive tyres. Some of the winter tyres dont look too cracking, ok the compound is softer but the tread pattern doesnt look like it would bite into the snow too well.

These will be used in pretty remote areas of Yorkshire where the snow will be fairly deep and the roads not gritted or well used.

They are only to fit to the girlfriends micra as she does a lot of driving in the countryside. I dont need a tyre that will hold an M3 round a roundabout at 50mph at 7 degrees C or last 20,000 miles and have no road noise.

Just want a cheap, safe tyre that will handle bad snow.

Do these tyres have a really aggressive tread? I hope the Micra can take it!

what do you mean? why couldnt a micra take it? they are no quite as aggresive as those in that pic - but not too far off. closer to that than normal winter tyres.

Not looking at going off roading - just bleak, country roads and tracks.....in a micra.
