Hi,

I'm currently insuring a group 14 car.. if i then say changed the policy to a winter car which was group 2-4 what would happen to the premium?

I think i should be able to insure a group 2-3 for 700ish, where as i'm paying 1300 at the minute. Would my money be lost?

Danny

You should get a refund of the difference in premium. Many places will charge an admin fee to change the vehicle.

with such a difference in the insurance groupings there is likely to be some sort of refund even if they have had more claims for the lower grouped car.

I was going to look at Saxo diesels, although dismally slow they are meant to be awesome in the snow and hit 60-70mpg

I doubt i will though, just taxed the VTS.. was just curious

the devil is in the detail.

check how much your insurance company will charge as a premium for changing cars, and remember you will have to change back again after.

Why is a diesel going to be better in the snow than your VTS?

Less power, less torque, and ever so slightly lighter.

Just buy skinny tyres for your VTS
agreed, a diesel won't help in the slightest on snow.

also to add, last winter does seem to have been a bit of an anomaly.

If you do really care about getting snowed in, get some tyre socks for around £40
