Why has no manufacturer managed to offer a SatNav unit that comes even half way close to being as good as the cheapest TomTom? In fact why don't manufacturers offer a built in cradle to hold and charge your tomtom so you can use it in the car and take it with you when you park so that in an unfamiliar city you can use the satnav to navigate back to where you parked? I assume it's just the big manufacturers ripping us off again. But if such a facility was offered I would score it as a big plus factor in the choice of car.

Haven't Renault & Vauxhall done this in their cheaper cars?Besides if they did that it would limit peoples choice of Satnav.
My TomTom takes different cradle, charger etc to my Fathers / friends tomtom's

Do people actually need sat nav to remember where they parked?
Yes. I needed satnav to get back to my car when I was in Catalunya. Had been away from the car for most of the day, and the city was bunged solid with people due to a yaught race finishing in the port at the time. There is NO way I'd have found the car otherwise.
