Premiere. Actor Eric Bana's documentary examining his 25-year relationship with the classic car he bought in his teens and lovingly restored. The film follows his entry in the five-day Targa Tasmania Rally, and explores the psychological nature of the relationship between men and cars. With contributions from Jay Leno and Jeremy Clarkson

Channel 4 11.10 Possible the best car film ever!

I believe it is a common term for a video cassette recorder; an archaic device whereby one could record analogue tv signals onto magnetic tape, invariably reducing the already low quality analogue signal to something completely unwatchable.

wink

Awesome film, went to theatre with the guys when it first came out, couldnt stop smiling as I watched it. The Falcon Hardtops were always dream machines of mine, XA, XB and XC models. I remember when the last of the hardtops the Cobra XC was new, I think it was like $12,000, I remember seeing one in a Ford showroom.

If you look on youtube you can see some of these cars racing in the Bathurst Race, the most famous being the 1 - 2 win of Moffat and Bond in 1976.

Possibly 4OD?

There'll be a torrent too if you're that way inclined.

Must be a channel 4 permiere as I've seen this before on council TV. Thanks for the update, well worth a watch.

Love the parts with his dad and his car. Also the bit where his mate meets some simple folk with a similar vehicle thats a bit worn out. I wont go into it, don't want to spoil anything, but thought that 5 minute interaction is what being a petrolhead is all about.

It's from the latin to see. VTRs are still widely in use in the broadcasting industry (although mainly digital VTRs) - it is quite likely that the film was delivered to Ch4 on a DIGIBeta tape, or perhaps an HDCAM SR tape if an HD master. It would then be digitised (ok, it's already a digital signal leaving the VTR) before playout from a video server.
