Has anyone got any experience, good or bad of this type of car antenna. It is amplified and sits inside the car;

Reason I ask, my current cars' antenna base has corroded internally due to water ingress, so I have lost AM/FM radio reception. The base includes my GPS reciever and I cannot find another base with this included so changing the broken FM base on the roof is not really an option IMO.

Do the glass mount ones work well then?

sounds a bit like the setup on BMWs. those work fine, so this should :P

Fitted one to a friends car (that too was a bmw) a few years ago, he never had any issues

Those internal antennas have been around for years. I had one in my first car, back in 1992. Seemed to work just fine with the £18 Pye headunit that was fitted!
