Another Insurance Question

I am 9 months into a usual 12 month insurance policy and have just swapped my car. My insurance company are saying they cant insure the new vehicle and ill have to cancel my policy, which means that i will revert to 4yrs ncb as opposed to the 5 i would have in a couple of months. Surely theres a way around this? they say not.... I hate them.
