Rossin-Bertin Vorax: Brazil's Newest Supercar

It sounds like a medicine, but it's actually a car...

This curvy Mazda RX-8-alike on steroids is the Rossin-Bertin Vorax, Brazil's newest (only?) supercar, and is scheduled to make its debut at the Sao Paolo motor show.

Its name might sound like a pharmaceutical product - and the fact that thus far we only have renderings to go by places it firmly in the 'we'll believe it when we see it' category - but the Vorax does look like being quite a machine, should it actually come to fruition.

The Vorax is powered by the V10 from the now defunct BMW M5 (which does make us wonder where Messrs Rossin and Bertin will source motors for the 500-1000 cars they plan to make each year). In its 'entry-level' form the Vorax will push out 570hp, while bolting a supercharger on pushes that up to 750hp.

Rossin-Bertin reckons that the basic car will hit 62mph in 3.8secs and 205mph, while the supercharger should make capable of 0-62mph in 3.6secs and of hitting 231mph flat out - although these figures are from 'virtual testing', so we'd take them with a whole cellar-full of salt.

The 1300kg aluminium chassis/carbon fibre body car is the brainchild of Fharys Rossin, an ex-GM designer and Natalino Bertin Jr, who is the 29-year-old heir to, er, a large slaughterhouse company.

It's an odd combination, but the pair hopes to bring the Ferrari rival (the £255k Ferrari rival) to market in 2011 or 2012, with a convertible following a year later. Good luck, chaps...

The drawings look good, but if it was a serious production possibility they would have gone to the effort of putting an available engine in the spec.

There are far too many of these non-existent fantasy cars getting coverage at the moment.

Interesting to look at but is it special enough to rival a Fezza?
It's a newcomer afterall...

Still not decided on an engine and hoping to have production vehicles available by '11 or '12. I doubt it very much too but I respect this type of activity amongst the niche car companies and think it should be encouraged.

That looks like it could be one hell of a car. But almost a little too good to be true... I hope they pull it off though!

I kinda like the look of it, it sounds like a lovely prospect too.

I'll reserve full judgement until I see a real one actually rolled off a full production line... That'll be never then. Oh well.

Only one company so far has managed to supercharge the S85 engine, G Power, at a huge cost. Gintani and ESS are apparently only weeks away from release of their kits.

How are they going to do this with no new engines being built???

I'm always a little suspicious when they choose to show their renderings represented in a environment where there is little or no light?

Surley this is the rich boy equivalent of doodling on your text book in a boring Geography class? Design students come up with computer drawings every year why aren't PH's featuring these as news?

my concerns as follows:

what will the dealer network coverage be like in the UK?
When I call to be quoted happy - will I be told my new £250k car does not in fact exist?
What if it's good and Clarkson buys one?

since the rendering software gets better and better I see a massive increase in super cars coming and going (in rendering state)

this is a computer rendering of my latest supercar. simulations suggest .....
0-60: 1.75sec
v-max: 275+mph
cost: only £457,344.65p (exc VAT)
production to start: 2015, limited to 250 units.
please email your order and a £155,000 deposit. bandit

Looks interesting. The roof profile and rear glass reminds me of an RX-8 and that Jaguar concept, RD-06 IIRC.

This is classic niche car manufacturer marketing. I'd love to buy one of your cars Sumpoil but there was no email address listed. Oh well...
