TechArt Reveals Its Take On Panamera

GrandGT adds bodykit to Porsche Panamera

This face that only a mother could love is the new GrandGT, the latest offering from that famous house of dubious Porsche tuning, TechArt.

"Based on the Porsche Panamera," says TechArt, "the TechArt GrandGT combines all of the features, for which TechArt is known, into one program".

Now we're sure this is not what TechArt intends to say, but we take this as meaning 'we've done our usual job of grafting a truly hideous bodykit onto a Porsche, bunging on some big wheels and an exhaust, and fiddling with the ECU.'

And, true to TechArt form, this is what has been done to the Panamera (not the prettiest vehicle in the first place).

The body is now a symphony of slats, skirts and spoilers made in a combination of carbon fibre, fibreglass and even polyurethane. Flared arches increase the front width by 42mm and the rear by 84mm. Wheels, meanwhile, are available in 20-, 21- and even 22-inch varieties, while quad oval tailpipes complete the *cough* subtle visual makeover.

Under the bonnet, apart from the carbon fibre cylinder head covers (nice touch that), TechArt has massaged the 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 to bring power up from 493bhp to 571bhp, and torque from 516lb ft to 612lb ft.

If you want to feel slightly ill while looking at a car, the TechArt GrandGT is going to be on display at the Zurich motor show on 11-14 November, and at the Essen motor show from 27 November to 5 December.

Lose the rear wing though and bar that rear view I quite like it.

In this case, I'd argue that there is one thing worse than pimping a four door car, and that would be leaving it standard.
