We all have a guilty pleasure in music or women but I just wondered what car gulity pleasures we have, and by this I mean cars you have acually driven and thought "you know what, it's not that bad, I kind of like it, but I shouldn't"

I'll start the confessions with..................

Renault 4.

Drove one in France for a few months back in the mid nineties and just loved it!
It carried everything anywhere and just seemed to have a knack of calming you down and putting a smile on your face because it was so simple and so slow, it never made itself out to be something it wasn't.

I'll start my Hail Mary's now............

04 plate Corsa 1.4 sxi.

Had this for a courtesy car for a month or so, really enjoyed pelting around in it and it felt quite nippy. Being quite small and having light steering meant it was great around town and the fuel guage just didn't seem to drop.

1998 shogun 2.8 td. Slow and rolled in the corners, but it was a fun back to basics truck.

Guilty for different reasons, but Opel Mantas. There's something about them I still like even though they're such a cheesy, 80s chest wig car.

Also my mother's old Peugeot 106 Diesel. When I used to drive it we lived way up twisty country roads and you had to plan every over taking maneuver 3 corners ahead, which made it quite entertaining, and very satisfying when you got it right.

Finally, st little scooters. There's no more carefree motoring than riding around the small villages in rural Thailand on my knackered old 2 stroke Honda, put-putting away and knowing I can fix nearly anything for £100.

The wife's Ford Galaxy. It's a 115bhp TDI and I've had it mapped. It's marginally less slow now! The handling is a bit sketchy and the body roll is comical, but for some reason I find it quite fun to drive. Maybe because I'm desperately trying to to make it interesting!

Fiat Doblo - I honestly prefer driving this to the Elise I used to have...brilliant steering, gearchange, chuckability and can fit 3 bikes and 2 kids in it.

Renault 4's are brilliant too - no guilt there!
