I don't want one, can't afford one but I am intrigued by them - they're an oddity - not unlike the Multipla (that I like). However, I've never seen anyone on here admit they have one, yet they were made and someone must have bought one.

Does anyone on PH have one and are they any good - or have the gone the same way as the Phaeton (in to obscurity)?

I've driven one, but don't own one. They have such a huge amount of torque, their acceleration is very surprising.
There are quite a few on the roads here in Luxembourg, and I saw a number of them in Zurich at the weekend.

Expensive when new and fairly pricey to run, I'd imagine. The W12 version is rare.

The Q7 moreso, IMO.

I had one as a company car for a couple of month. Had a couple of engine issues - blown airbox and cyl.heads/turbos replacement around 30.000 miles.
They are pretty quick, although not as fast as people usually assume.

What's wrong with Phaetons? Very nice cars indeed.

Nothing - I like them - I suspect they were looked on as a poor man's A8/A6/7/E/etc.

I always liked the idea of a C6 myself...

I've had a 2005 car for 4 years.
Great car.
It is not mega quick 0-60, but mid-range and high speed motorway acceleration is awesome.
Got all the toys, very comfortable and swallows a family of 4 plus luggage with ease and still goes like a train at speeds > national speed limit (on closed roads).
I take mine from London to the Lakes a couple of times a year and it is a pleasure to drive on the M1/M6 trek there and back, and when roaring up the honister pass on icy roads.

Can't really see how it compares to a multipla or other "oddity".
My personal opinion is that it is quite smart looking, but even if you disagree it is hardly offensive or ugly - at worst a bit dull to look at.........
Best thing about it - under-stated, just quietly goes about its business without attracting unwanted attention.

I, personally, say it's an oddity, but only because it is an odd model - the Multipla was just odd TBH, but the Touareg struck me as an odd car in the VW stable as the VW brand seemed to overlap with Audi's and this car seemed to fit in to the price range of things like the Range Rover.

I like them, but I look at it and think........ no

You can get a good one 2nd hand for around £20k but at the same time you can get a similarly aged similarly specced up S6 and for a few quid more an s8 both with the 5.2 V10

If i was ever in the market for a vehicle with a V10 i'd want it petrol not diesel which is why i would choose one of the Audis over the VW.

Its like the V12 TDi in the Audi Q7... Nice and fast but you just have to ask WHY?? Just makes it easier to roll it on a bend when you forget its a big 4x4 with a high centre of gravity rather than a lower saloon or estate.
