A friend of mine needs a new starter motor for his 2004 Honda Jazz and he's been quoted around £200 for the full job.

That's labour (£35ph+VAT) new starter motor (£110 inc vat).

Is this a fair price? I got the impression you could probably fit a new starter motor less than an hour.

Any help appreciated smile

Phone few (reputable) local places and see what they charge?

Thanks for that - I'll pass it on. Incidentally, does anyone know how long it should take a mechanic to change a starter motor?

not sure of the intricacies of the jazz, but i'd think 2 hours is a bit long.

It's not unreasonable to be honest, £200 sounds like a fair price, you could probably shop around a bit but if you trust the garage why bother smile

It was 50 quid for a refurb starter motor in 2002

So not bad I should think
