Hi - looking for some advice please.

Had a blow out today so took the car to the nearest black ring establishment. When they looked at the other tyres they noticed that the two front tyres were 'C' rated - ie for commercial use. It's a Honda CRV so they said both the car and tyre manufacturers would not recommend those tyres for that car and we should go back to where we bought them and get them changed.

I've been doing some research and indeed they appear to be light commercial tyres, but I can't find anything that says you cannot/should not fit them to a regular car - is this true? I'm guessing it won't perform as well in the grip dept, esp braking, which worries me a little as the Mrs drives it most of the time!

The tyre is a Bridgestone Duravis (215/65/16 C) - which is a hardwaring tyre designed for car derived vans... I'm thinking I can get better!

Thanks in advance smile

Has the car been fitted with a towbar?
The first thing that springs to mind is its been used for carrying or towing... however it wouldn't be my first choice for such duties, have seen a few Volvo 240 estates with these on though!!!

Plenty of car tyres available in that size, how'd you end up with van tyres?

May well be all they had in size. The typical big tyre place may not have realised...

No towing but the garage we took it to is very local, like across the road - moved to new area in the last year and used them before with no problems. However they do kinda specialise in more of the commercial type of vehicle, no excuse really though. Ah well, will see if they're willing to change them tomorrow.
