V317 section 2 (numberplate retention)

I've tried Searching, Google and PH, so I'm obviously the only person stupid enough to ask..

I'm retaining my registration from the car I am selling, it was previously registered with a '54 numberplate.

Section 2 of the V317 states:

"Details of the vehicle that the registration number is being transferred or retained from"
Vehicle Registration Number

Is this the current private registration, or the original?
