Do they exist?

You see time and time again people dismiss sports cars on PH as they aren't practical enough for people who only require 2 seats... hehe

What am I getting at?

Well not much really. Just impressed that when we went shopping the other day we managed to fit this:

And with 2 people into a smart Roadster.

All we had left over was one small bag of 4 or 5 items that my partner ended up with on her knees. The rest stowed away quite well.

Reckon it only added 5 maybe 10 mins extra in total for packing it a bit more smart (pun intended wink ) but I don't think that's much cost for getting to drive a rwd sports car instead of a fwd hatch.

The boot of a Chimera is able to fit a few bodies in, I reckon!

I often get funny looks coming out of Macro with a trolley full of stuff and then walking up to the Elise and starting to shoehorn stuff into the boot. As long as you pack carefully enough, you can get a surprising amount in.

Doesn't the McLaren F1 have quite a lot of storage capacity? I'm sure I've heard a motoring journalist say it has more capacity in litres than a ford fiesta. Is that BS?

Now do an IKEA trip. Or carry a mountain bike. Or take several bags of leaves to the tip.

No pics, but this is what I can get into the MG B with the spare wheel out:

1 x tent
2 x foldy chairs
1 x inflatable mattress plus pump
2 x sleeping bags
2 x bags of clothes
2 x body boards (behind the seats)
2 x wetsuits
1 x cool bag
3 x disposable barbeques
1 x small gas stove
1 x boxer dog plus bowls plus food (dog behind the seats)
3 x 3 litre water bottles

The Alfa has a boot big enough (spare wheel out again!) for 2 small suitcases / 2 large squashy bags in the boot, plus the hidden boot behind the seats (currently holds fleeces and flying jackets). Plus the shelf behind the seats. I got all of my kit for a 3 month deployment in the car without resorting to using the front seat.

The thing is, a fair number of big saloon cars aren't really much use for Ikea trips unless you have a roof rack. I have no idea whether you can get a roof rack for the Smart Roadster, but you certainly can for quite a lot of sports car. I would imagine that you could fit a standard bike rack to a Smart, too.

Porsche 914 has ample carrying capacity, with two boots.
Porsche 944 – 968 also has decent carrying capacity, if you use soft bags and the rear seat area.

I forgot to add… A 911 is good for 2 people to stay at Le Mans for 5 days with full camping gear.

Porsche’s are versatile.

Depends what you are getting. Roof off means tall objects can fit wink and a bike rack would sort the bike out. smile

I find the 911 incredibly practical, not only has it a good sized boot, the space behing the front seats with the rears folded down is very useful, and of course it fits the kids in the back .....

Home delivery.

Bike rack.
Borrow a friend's car (or if in a city, use a Streetcar), or do multiple trips in your sports car. driving

Take the spare out of a 911 and you'd fit that much in.

True, but if it has any weight to it and has room to slide around you have to watch it doesn't punch a hole through the clam as soon as you turn a corner wink
