I currently have a winter shed S-reg 1.6Si Escort. 6m Tax and June 11 MOT. Been offered a 51-reg Skoda Octavia 1.4 Classic 5dr with 12m MOT and 3m Tax for £600.

Both are in good nick but I don't no whether its worth swapping. I can probably get what I paid on the Escort back but what do you guys (and gals) reckon - Stick or switch?

Octavia is arguably better built, and a bit bigger than the escort. But if you know the Escort then stick with it.

I've only had the Escort a month (the regular motor needed repair so put it away for the winter and got the scort of a mate for £300). The Octavia is owned by another mate but he's getting a L200 for work on Sat so wants shot of it.

My Mrs had a 1.6 scrot, never let us down, went around the clock (although not as many digirs as cars these days!). If the rear arches are OK stick with it.

Having looked at the costs and the spec difference (tax only slightly less, insurance about the same, smaller engine and I lose the A/C etc) I have decided the scort will do until the '5 and Landie are back. I should stop buying cars anyway, yards filling up with junk hehe
