Looking through for a MK2 Escort RS2000 (mainly dreaming though there is a nice one near for 10K) I came across this rather optomistic or maybe not advert.

Way, way overpriced at the moment IMO. That one above ludicrously so. I would expect a mint RS2000 for that money.

that is crazy, given that it is only reall yworth something as a mint bare shell, who the fk wants a spotless original pop plus or whatever it is?

Mk 1 and 2 escorts are worth money because of historic rallying, that's all

After seeing this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2201809.htm for £50k in the PH email yesterday, nothing will surprise me.

That looks like Finland. Not that that matters smile

ETA Missus B&C, who happens to be Finnish, tells me it's Sweden. Bloody Scandanavia, all looks the same.

Escorts are crazy prices due to rallying, everything else ford related is generally priced at the same kind of level as a similar classic

next.

That's a cracker. Do all Lotus Cortinas have a 'Consul' badge on the bonnet?

Yes, deffo overpriced, the market has talked itself into a frenzy, I suspect it will level out now as people look for alternatives and nine grand boggo Escorts will drop down to normal levels, there is some serious value with other marques.

I personally wouldn't buy any car at any price that 'hadn't been used or moved in 10 years' as the ad suggests.

if the shell and car really are in that good nick though there are guys in the rally scene that would happily pay that for it, a *new* fully built group 4 escort is what? £50k, some seem to go over £100k? part of which is the original car to build it from

edit to add, some nice cars on here too! http://www.richardlepleyracing.com/
