Yet another opinions thread.... Mazda 6 TS2 Estate 136D

Anybody got or driven one?
I guess it's a Mondeo or Focus underneath, looks pretty good and according to Parkers the handling is pretty amazing.

'A firm, but not jarring, ride gives the driver a clue to the priority of Mazda's engineers when developing the Mazda6. The steering is direct and offers excellent feel and feedback, and the car seems to respond intuitively to any action from the driver. This isn't surprising because the steering rack was lifted from the MX-5 and allows the Mazda6 to be eased through challenging bends with fingertip control. The Mazda6 corners with hardly any body roll and always behaves predictably and safely, with levels of grip far higher than most people will need on public roads.'

A fair amount of bull there i suspect!

Looking at checking out a low miles 2003 so should be free of the DPF rubbish.

I was going to ask pretty much the same question on here! Although I would prob go for a petrol & maybe go for the hatch.

My problem is they look dull as ste, and I assumed the driving experience would match the looks.

But, they are a bargain, some really high spec, low mileage examples out there for very low prices.

Don't know what your budget is but try Ford for prices of stock cars as they tend to be giving them away.

I thought the estate actually looked quite good, review was good so i naturally assume there must be something wrong with them.
Don't think i've ever seen one in the flesh.

And I would pay zero attention to someone who "assumes" it's a dull drive.

Every review I've ever read of the 6 suggests its one of if not the best handling car in it's class. Above it's sister Mondeo which is always rated extremely highly.

They have the added bonus of (IMO) looking very smart. Headlights and tailights especially look good to me.

It's the tail-lights that always turn me off Mazdas. I was behind a new 3 I think it was, yesterday, and it was the lights which I thought looked pretty chav and colourless. I used to own a 5 but they ruined the rear lights on that on later models.

I assumed it was a dull drive just because I have never heard anything about them, and they look very normal!

I have been looking into buying one recently, I'm not trying to put them down, at all! It's great news to hear that they are good handling cars, I think they are a bargain, you get such a new/low mileage car for the money.

Sorry we are closing at 3pm today as i was up early. Maybe tomorrow? Nope i'm working. Sunday? No we don't open Sundays. WTF so the peak buying day you can't be arsed to open??? Next..............
Have i misunderstood here? Who has ever bought a car except on a Saturday or especially a Sunday?
If i can afford to buy a car, just maybe i have a job??? So can't be visiting 9-5 Monday to Friday??

Amazing that in these hard times they can't be arsed to open on a Sunday! I wanted to know how you get on with this car, I was keen on these cars before, but now you have made me research them and they look great!

I had a 56 plate Mazda 6 2.0TS hatchback - fabulous handling car, plenty of go, solid enough build but a bugger for road roar.

I test drove a petrol demonstrator one back, as it happens, in 2003. It really was nice to drive, there was scope to enjoy yourself. Practical and well thought out interior (we wanted it to shift children) and nice little details like there a transpoder in the front airbag that automatically turned it off if you put their baby seat (rebadged Britax) in the front. We'd test driven just about all the competition in the class at the time so we had plenty to compare it to.

Decided on a wise parent's advice to get an big MPV otherwise we would have gone with it.

Yup one of my TIPEC members worked at a Mazda main dealers & he spoke of this. Had a queue of diesel 6 cars awaiting replacement lumps from Mazda.
