Hey All,

This my first post on piston heads.

I've just purchased a 2008 megane sport F1 R26 in red and looking to sort out the insurance.

I'm 24 and been driving since I was 17 and have 5 years no claims, my partner is 22 and been passed a year.

The cheapest I've been getting on the insurance front Is 945 from admiral or elephant (on monthly payments it's closer to 1400). I was just wondering if someone could suggest any suitable companies that would come in cheaper while still giving a good service.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Chris

imo for any performance car you are better off looking at companies that specialise in performance cars rather than shopping cars. Try the likes of Adrian flux etc, google "performance car insurance" and see what comes up.

That's quite a good quote I think for a 24 yo.

Greenlight are probably worth a shot (though they may insist you've owned the car for a year before they'll touch you). They also do track day insurance at £50 a pop if you fancy some track action.

Doesn't sound too bad for a hot hatch and an under 25 year old. Try putting your excess up a bit to say £400 and see what happens.

Welcome to the forums!

Hi folks,

Thanks for all the fast replies. I tried AF and they quoted £2800 which seems to be about right with all the other quotes on the shopping sites. I'll try the other suggests and let you all know how I get on.

I thought the 900 wasn't bad but find it difficult to cough up the extra 500 for the monthly option. Swift cover who am with at the moment only charged a small amount for monthly payments but according to them the cars in what they call 'section 99' and don't cover it.

Thanks again Chris.
