Moving Motor Show Returns To FoS

Goodwood sets dates for Festival of Speed and Revival

Festival of Speed 2011 dates: 1-3 July

Moving Motor Show: 30th June
Moving Motor Show: 30th June
Goodwood has confirmed that next year's Festival of Speed will feature a re-run of the Moving Motor Show, in spite of 'teething troubles' this year when a few unfortunates were run over by a wayward Honda Civic.

So we're guessing there'll be a few modifications to the event in 2011, or at least an amendment to the wording on the entry tickets. 'Motor Shows can be dangerous', perhaps? (Ho-hum. There goes our invitation... Ed.)

Seriously though folks, it's time to get those 2011 calendars out because the announcement today includes provisional dates for three, er... make that two of our favourite days out of the year - the Festival of Speed itself and the Goodwood Revival.

Revival: Sept 16-18th
Revival: Sept 16-18th
The FoS is scheduled for the 1-3 July, which is the same weekend as the last two years. The theme for the event is still being finalised and will be announced in the coming weeks, says the organiser Lord March. (The Moving Motor Show day will be Thursday 30th June.)

The equally fabulous Goodwood Revival is scheduled for the weekend of 16-18 September, and as in previous years entry to all three events will be by advance ticket only. You can order yours here.

So which car will crash for an insurance payout this time?

Could probably run a book on that, who's good at odds?

The dates are still subject to the F1 calender being confirmed so maybe best to postpone buying tickets just yet.

In fact, and differing from the view in the article, I think that the Moving Motor Show day was probably the best of this year's festivals. Forget about the MMS in itself if you can't test a car or get a ride on the track, but the access you get to all the other cars and areas of the FoS, with the opportunity to see everything upclose without the crowds of the weekend makes it worthwhile, and probably the best value ticket you can get. I'm not saying that you should go to the MMS instead of the FoS, but if you can go 2 or 3 days, make the MMS one of them.
