A seemingly odd mix of cars, all good at different things, mostly in different price ranges and all on a sliding scale of likelihood of putting you into a ditch.

If someone held a gun to your head and told you to choose one, which would you have and why? Assuming you keep your current cars, too.

I hovered above the 211 for a short while, then the RS but plumbed for the GT2 in the end.

Any ideas where this crazed gun man hangs out?

More usable than the 2-11, prettier and more special feeling (IMO) than the bimmer, focus RS has halfords stuff stuck all over it, r32 just not special enough and given the choice between a GT2 and a boxter who is going to go for the latter!

The gunman is going to have to pay the runnng costs though

Either the 996 or Boxster for me.
I ticked the latter only because of my love for convertibles! biggrin

I nearly went for the CSL as I've always fancied one, but it was my ambition to get a 911 before I reached 30 as I've always loved them. Ok, I'm 34 now, so I've had to extend the deadline. irked

2-eleven for me as its the furthest removed from my 'normal' cars.

People who might find the running costs of a GT2 a bit harder to live with, I imagine smile

Went with GT2, and the moment i hit submit i changed my mind and decided it would be the Boxster Spyder. frown

I just really like the look of them, and it would be more than enough for my limited abilities.

Damn, should have read your post before voting.

I went for BMW E46 M3 CSL mainly due to the seating ability.

As I get to keep my daily runner and my classic too, I know I'd opt for the Boxster Spyder.

It would be a fun car only and I'd have no need for more seats or a roof smile

The biggest thing here is the assumption that we can keep our current cars, which in my case are very practical (Elise and 320d), leaving me with room for a toy.

My thoughts:

Porsche 996 GT2: I would love one of these, although I'm not terribly keen on turbocharged cars.
Lotus 2-Eleven SC: This was what I voted for. Everything that Lotus knows about amazing ride and handling in a fast lightweight track package. Heaven on four wheels cloud9
BMW E46 M3 CSL: I've driven the standard one and merely thought it was ok. I'm not sure the CSL would be a revelation, although I wouldn't say no!
Ford Focus RS Mk2: A FWD Ford!? No chance in this company rofl
Volkswagen Golf R32 Mk5: 4WD? No chance biggrin I'd buy one for my Mum maybe if the gunman wanted me to choose for her instead.
Porsche Boxster Spyder: I love Boxsters, but I'd rather have the slightly slower one with an electric hood. The Boxster excels at being an all round useable sports car, and the lack of practicality might just tie its shoelaces together.

Good thread this.

I, like many others it seems, deliberated for a fair while over this.

I'm having the Lotus, but I so very nearly picked the GT2. The 'keep your own car' factor swung it for me as I'm already 911-d up.

I was going to mock anyone who picked the RS/R32, but I suppose if you've already got something completely different (eg Elise, Caterfield, something old) they would make a fine daily driver.

Given that my current car is a piece of st, I'd be looking for this one to replace it in all ways - so I'd want something which was practical as well as fun. Don't like BMWs much, and there's not exactly anything special or interesting about a Golf, so it'd be the Focus for me.

GT2. Why? Big power appeals, and it's a Porsche!

Like most (it would appear),

GT2 with CSL close second.

Went with GT2 as it is one of my dream cars, and is more special than the BM which could be mistaken for a basic old 3-series.
