Yes, do some sort of instructed circuit training and an advanced road driving course.

The two are totally different in their objectives.

Good for you, undertaking the IAM test at 17.To achieve the required standard you will have to obey all speed limits, however, making progress when appropriate.
Thereafter, you decide your own limits.
