Driving for fun
Discussion
Its been a while - but for the first time in a long time I went for a drive just for the hell of it. I am enjoying the extra power and the torque from the new car is addictive - so much so I popped some fuel in and just went for a drive today.
Perhaps for some of you thats a regular occurance but its a great feeling to get back!!
Whens the last time you did it and what made you do it (car, weather etc)?

Couple of months back.
I did plan a early morning blat in my E36 but couldn't be arsed. To be honest if its nice and I fancy a drive.. I take the motorbike as its a far less fustrating expirience.
Traffic kills the soul.
I am planning a run out to Goodwood for the Breakfast run and will take the long way there. I'll be in the 911 hopefully.

Disappointingly I haven't driven the Caterham since I went to Chamonix in it in July
I have tried but the high mileage of the car is catching up with it - there's a electron leak somewhere as the battery is reluctant to hold lots of charge. Last time I tried a fuel leak sprang up which I've now fixed but not taken the car out anywhere yet.

I drive for fun every single day.
In a Caterham, having fun on every drive is pretty much unavoidable. I finished work at 12-ish on Saturday and decided to pop to the "Go Outdoors" place in Bedford to pick up a new thermal "Band It" and one of the small daysacks they had on special offer.A mundane shopping trip turned into one of the most enjoyable drives of my life (no kidding), thanks to a biker who was willing to play and plenty of morons sticking to 40mph on a NSL road. The overtaking opportunities were an embarrassment of riches and something I took complete (and totally safe) advantage of. The sun was shining, I was all wrapped up against the cold and the sounds (exhaust) and smells (petrol, oil and cow pats) made it all a bit magical.
Driving, and I suppose life, is what you make it.
A couple of weeks ago I had a day off and on impulse I decided to go for a drive up on Exmoor. The drive up was a joke with so many muppets stuck at 40mph, I even had one old bint brake for a bridge under a railway line, I never realised they could move! Once I got up there it was one of the best drives ive had in this country, The weather was a bit grey and merky so the roads were pretty much dead and great fun, even in a mundane Focus!

You must be driving in the wrong places as I never come across any of these issues

Although I have fun almost every time I drive, regardless of the vehicle, I haven't been driving just for the fun of it for a while. I used to quite a bit when the TVR/MG were roadworthy but with them both in the workshop at the minute fun driving has been cut down. When they are working, at least once a week.
