Unfortunately as I was sat in traffic lastnight boredom got the better of me and I decided to run a 20p along the bottom of the steering wheel (the middle section). This 20 pence piece however fell inside the bit that holds the airbag. Not only is it very annoying as it rattles each time I turn, I'm worried if I hit something and the airbag was to go off I'd be left with an imprint of a 20p in my forehead. Understandably I'd like to get the money out.

Any suggestions PH Massive?

Well, I suppose you'll have to remove the steering wheel. Should find screws/bolts behind it. Hopefully, you'll then be able to shake it out.

I look forward to your future post: How do I align the steering wheel so it's straight when the wheels are pointing straight ahead?

Sell it to webuyanycar but make sure you get 20p on top of their offer to cover your loss!

They won't double their price for that I would have thought.

It's not the money I'm bothered about. Its the constant rattle that gives me the full on rage when going round a roundabout, and also the fact it would probably hurt a fair bit if the airbag went off.

Wouldn't this be quite dangerous with the airbag? Worth disconnecting the battery first?

TBH No idea. Hopefully someone with a clue will come along shortly.

What you've done is probably good from a safety perspective. I bet you're driving around a lot more carefully now. thumbup

Push more coins in until you've stopped the rattle.

Why don't you try the fiddly annoying ways first?.

Off the top of my head

1. Metal flat object (ruler?) and powerful magnet.

errr thats it

Edit: I believe you do have to disconnect the battery before removing steering wheel.

Sorry I cant help either - but be thankful it wasnt a 50p...

...one of those could pack a right whollop in the event of an airbag deploying.

the airbag comes off as a unit

you need someone with expertise in removing this unit for your model

the battery should be disconnected for 30 secs before playing with this!

there are many forums for cars find the one for your car and ask there

It'd be awesome in a crash. Like a nailbomb for rich people.
