Tried the search, but it came up with 1 million hits for a normal Passat.

What are they like? Anyone got one? I was looking at one and they have good levels of kit, look nice and a bit different. Bit worried that it'll be replaced soon though as the new Passat Saloon has been released recently...

Good to drive? Or a standard VAG affair? I would guess it understeers a bit in the wet as it doesnt have the e-diff as in the new golfs/passats?

They are good for the price considering the opposition.

Depends what you mean by opposition tbh. Also are you buying new or used and is it a private purchase or company use.

Personally I think you'd have to be clinically insane to buy one of these compared to what proper RWD convertibles are available for the same value.

If it's a company car then I can somewhat understand that it would be a more interesting option to a hatch or saloon version of a dull car.

Who said anything about convertibles? The Passat CC is a saloon in the vein of the Merc CLS.

I think autocar had one as a long-termer earlier this year. There must be some reviews on there.

Erm. It's not a convertible, it a proper 4 seat, 4 door saloon in a coupe(ish) body.

I've got one. It's a company car and I knew I'll get another car in 3 years time.
I wouldn't buy one with my own money. If I was in the market for a car of this category/price, I'd go for a regular Passat estate. Cheaper to buy, easier to resale.

They're brilliant at what they have been designed for: motorway cruising. Quiet, comfy, excellent seats (although that's personnal preferences), good level of kit, economical (TDi 140). They stand out in the company carpark in the sea of A4.

Boot is bigger than regular passat. only 2 seats at the back and a bit tight to squeeze the 9 month old in her car seat because of the slopping roof. Once in, it's perfect and rear legroom for passengers is on par with regular Passat. Very tall people might rub their head on the ceiling.

Interior won't change you from a regular Passat (even the new one!), they are the same.

Never really noticed understeer on mine but it's so comfy and quiet I never feel like pushing it. It's a comfy cruiser, not a sport car.

I had one on rental for a week with the 170bhp diesel engine and DSG 'box. Couldn't see the point to be honest, it's just a Passat with a slightly less bland body. Considering the not insubstantial price, there would be a lot of other cars ahead of it on my list.

My bad, think this might be a case of mistaken identity. CC usually means hard top convertible, as in Coupe/Convertible. Though this was the same....

In this case, CC apparently stands for "Comfort Coupé", if wikipedia is to be believed. rofl

Easy to make the mistake with the CC label - confused me first time I saw one. I'm surprised they marketed it like that tbh.

FWIW I think they look very nice - I'm very much a form over function person though.

I think their great looking cars, although I have no driving experience, the only thing I would consider in its place (as a new company car) would be an Alfa 159, just for the rareness/unusual nature compared to the millions of 3 series, C-classes and A4's out there.

Personal Purchase, id be going for the original 4 door "coupe", the Mercedes CLS - just like the one I sold a few months back smile

Actually it doesn't look half bad (just had a peek on the VW website). A little generic and a little understated maybe, but also muscular and a little elegant.

What sort of model would you be looking at though? And what sort of running costs?

I'm still not sure I'd want to spend best part of £30k on one personally. smile

It was marketed as such, the saloon version of the CL coupe

You dont see many CLS' about, especially not with the AMG styling, for the money it has to be one of the best looking four saloons out there:

Neither would I! Company car, so has to be diesel and there are too many bmw/merc/audi's in the car park.
Was looking at the 170, but not sure it's worth the extra over the 140 which will do a good enough job. Will have a drive of both and see how they compare....

Otherwise, the Alfa might be good (in Ti spec). Will be booking lots of drives over the weekend

Indeed- cars such as the Rover P5 coupe for instance:

Although I admit, the CLS was the first of the very modern breed that is now becoming more and more popular. And I do love them; Father in law has a CLS500- lovely thing to waft around in!
