hey all i am looking to buy an estate car for about £10k been looking at audi a4 and bmw 3 series (the more i look the less i`m sure) need some inspiration or ideas anyone? dont do that many miles per year as work local so open to ideas possibly bigger engined models just concerned on running costs as i usually buy lower spec cars just looking to see what others think.

What about an Alfa 159 estate? Best looking estate car in it's class IMO

The 3 series is not an estate , it's tiny in the back . The a4 is a good car however quite expensive for what you get . There's the new shape passat , you should get a 08 with leather and stuff . You then have the c5 which is nice and apparently quite well built .

And obviously the best looking estate ( Alfa) which could well be worth 2000 quid in 3 years time

Not really a fan of estates myself. Think I'd look at a 4x4. £10k is just about Disco 3 money or a Wrangler Unlimited, or a Defender 110.

If you want something different, Rover 75 V8 or the MG ZT-T260 with the same 4.6 V8 in.

Had a same dilemma a couple of months ago and bought a Legacy 3.0R Spec B.

Has turned out to be an excellent decision - it's a corker of a car for everyday use. Reliable, discreet, reasonably fast, lovely noise (especially on Prodrive pipes) capacious and grips like a limpet.
