Following on from Garlick's thread this morning on Mike Brewer I thought it would be good to get an idea of what cars PH would like to see featured on Wheeler Dealers. I am borrowing the idea from this thread http://community.yourdiscovery.com/eve/forums/a/tp...

My suggestions are:

Corrado G60
Jaguar XJS
Porsche 912
Alfa Romeo GTV6
Jaguar Mk2
Mercedes 560 SEC

Over to you....

They've done an XJS IIRC....

Some Alfa content would be very good though.

Love the show, but the best bit about it is how they (as a rule) take cars that are

1: A modern Classic
2: below say £5k
3: make a profit

I would suggest that the MK2 Jag is not really falling into these categories, but I was very shocked as to how the managed to get the Jensen done in budget.

I really like how they often take cars you have sort of forgotten about, or certainly forgotten how good they can look.

2cv- a really good one can sell for more than 6k, and you can get a shed for about 500 squids

I would love to see;

Volvo 850 T5r - some badly modified exampled returned to nice standard
Skyine R32 GTR - Getting old enough now to feature?
Mk2 Escort of some type

I would also love to see a feature length edition where they take something a bit more meaty on - you know cross the line a bit between easy to repair, something a bit more special perhaps.

They gave 8.5k for the Elan in the new series and you can find Mk2's for that money fairly easily so maybe with their new spending power its a realistic proposition.

Yeah an XJS has been featured.

The show doesnt always stick within the £5k budget, so how about some of these in rough condition and brought back to life:
  • Audi Quattro
  • Lotus Carlton
  • Toyota AE86
  • Toyota Supra
  • Nissan 300zx
  • Renault 5 GT Turbo

Can you still get Max-Powered versions or are they all gorn now?

Buying one of them and returning it to standard specification and increasing its value would be an interesting reversal of the usual plot.

I reckon they should ditch the £5k budget and just focus on buying and turning a profit.

Also- quattro's been done.

I'd like to see them swap jobs for an episode - just for fun.

Im pretty sure Ed would wind up buying a VW variant of some sort - and Mike would wind up covered in oil, scuffed knuckles and bleeped out cockney swearing wink

Good series, looking forward to the new ones! thumbup

They have bigger budgets these days....
From a Lotus forum re the new series -

"no, they bought it for 8500, and sold it for 16500 with new paint, upper balljoints, ss exhaust and Sue Miller driveshaftconversion" - Discussing an S4 Elan

If my memory serves me right they did this with another French hot hatch, the Pug 205gti. Theres alot of messy cars on ebay for peanuts, Im not sure how collectable they are or how much their worth mint though.

Renault 5 Turbo 2, yes please:
