Jaguar Reveals New 'Black Pack' Trim Option

Like a Jaguar, only with less brightwork

Jaguar has revealed a new 'appearance package' called the Black Pack for those customers who find the XF a bit too, well, chromey.

The new Black Pack follows the launch of a similar option on the XK earlier this year.

The trim level includes dark-grey 20-inch Draco alloy wheels with diamond-turned rims, a gloss black grille and gloss black window surrounds.

The XF Black Pack is available on the XF Diesel S, the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 model, and the XFR, with prices starting at £950 (for the pack, not the car...).

Such tweaks seem to prove popular on Jaguars, according to Geoff Cousins, Jaguar's UK MD. "Since the Black Pack and Speed Pack were launched on the XKR sports car at the Geneva Motor Show," he says, "almost half of XKR coupe buyers have selected one or both options - double our original estimate - and we expect the Black Pack will generate just as much excitement amongst XF customers."

XF Black Packs can only be specified with Polaris White, Spectrum Blue, Ultimate Black, Stratus Grey, Lunar Grey or Liquid Silver paint jobs, or - for XFRs only - Kyanite Blue and Salsa Red.

They should also replace the current chrome headlight surrounds on the XK and XF with black ones.

So less chrome, which is probably less cost. Yet charge more? OK.

At least it is cheaper than it used to be - on an XJ40 Jaguar wanted a whopping £1632 for what they then called "satin black chromework"

+1. I love the rear and side views but those headlights and bonnet ridges are horrible

I think they've got the balance just right with the chrome they've left behind, I think Stratstones take on it alters the look too much.

still seems to have chrome on the grille surround, fog light surround and the rear applique and badges...talk about half a job

and they should be satin black IMO

I think £950 for the option is a bloomin cheek, and when I win the lottery and buy myself a XFR, I will do the shadowline bit myself, in satin black smile

weird they left the chrome on the window surrounds and fender grilles.

Personally I don't agree with you - I would love an XFR in dark metallic grey and ALL the chromework done in satin black.....but that's just me, each to their own! smile

No its not, its more BMW 'Shadowline' circa mid 90s. A free option not to have chrome on your car, how could you say no?

I'm not a massive fan to be honest. These barges all look the same nowadays, BMW, Audi, Merc and now Jaaaaaag? I miss the days of the XJ6 and XJs, which I owed a few months back - kids on buses would point (it was a beautiful example, granted) at it but I can't imagine a yoof nowadays being able to tear his eyes away from his/her DS to notice these near identical cars...

Colour matching components is more costly than single-finish (e.g. chrome) for manufacturers.

If a car has 15 colour options for example, then they either need a stock of each of the 15 colours of parts besinde the production line, or the parts need to be sequence fed. Both are undesirable from a manufacturing point of view.

I agree they could have done more but the £950 includes the wheels yum, plenty of other manufactures charge more than this for a wheel upgrade alone....

What they should have done is have the O/S headlight with the bonnet line-intrusion bit, and N/S without. Tuxedo black outside, Tan rouched leather inside.
