I don't work for Shell, so have nothing to gain from posting this - apart from getting cheap juice myself. smile

Shell Bluebell Hill (497) A229 Northbound Aylesford Kent ME20 7EZ

Good, it's not just me then.

The only way to stop it re-directing on here, is to open a quoted reply, then cut and paste the url.

It's fine elsewhere.

I never use anything but V-Power, I think it is the best high octane fuel out there, but while I have been using it I have had a few fuel lines go soft, so keep an eye on them and preferably use high-spec PTFE lined pipes for any high pressure Efi lines.

I don't think the problem is Shell's fuel, but fuels are changing their composition by adding ethanol and IMHO old rubber fuel lines don't like it.

I had a leak on the low pressure return line on my Land Rover Efi V8 - it was braided fuel line from Demon Tweeks and I couldn't find it - but the MOT man did after it pissed petrol on him - it had been on for about 5 years, and the failure was under the braiding at the back of the engine bay.

I had persishing and leaking from the original cotton clad fuel lines on my V6 Calibra, first the pressure line, then the return line.

I had an almighty sudden split line on the Marcos Efi and was lucky it didn't burst into flames, and that was me using something I thought was Ok from the garage, when I fitted a variable pressure fuel regulator for the Efi.

So just trying to alert you all to keep an eye on fuel lines, especially any aftermarket ones you have fitted.

Steve

Riiiiiight so 5p per litre x 80L = £4

My car does 25mpg, and the nearest shell is 25 miles away so I spend £5.68 each way (£11.36 total fuel cost) to buy it.

Hardly a saving for me.

I do prefer v power but tescos 99ron is a mile away so its nearly always tescos for me - more is the pity as I dont hink its as good.

This 5p thing should be 15p to make a real difference.

Please, don't shoot the messenger. wink

I wouldn't suggest anyone went out of their way to get it - in fact my nearest makes it uneconomical for us too (unless I'm passing, for some reason), so we won't be putting V power in either. frown

it wasnt my intention to shoot the messenger, merely that 5p really is just a gimmick to get people to fill up at shell when in reality its worthless unless you live very close to one.
