I thought you were supposed to declare if a vehicle you're selling has been in an accident and subsequently been written off by the insurance company?

Was quite liking this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Until I found this: http://www.salvagesparefinder.co.uk/VAUXHALL+VX220...

When I first read this thread I assumed it was going to be a pointless moan about a minor dig not being declared to the insurance company but that it ridiculous! the car looks like it used to be missing the front half!

As far as I know, they are under any obligation to declare it but they can't lie if you ask.

It's only insurance write-offs that need to be declared. They have no obligation to tell you about accidents.

The Sparefinder ad states cat D, so the car is what is commonly referred to as a 'write off'.

Cat D status isn't based upon the absolute level of damage, merely on the economics of the cost of repair as a function of car value.

Yes I know that one's a write off. But the OP's thread title implied that the "accident history" matters, which it does not.

Not necessarily. That's pretty much what a VX220 looks like with the front clam off.

The OP was quite specific, his question was whether a 'write off' had to be declared, he never asked about just accident damage.

It's covered 2500 miles or so since repair, it could have been his weekend toy come money maker while he waits for that gullible buyer who doesn't do an HPI! bd!

Fairly sure this car has been on a previous PH thread.
