elephant.co.uk quote weirdness

Don't get me started about Elephant!
Try and change car halfway through your policy and see what madness they come up with.
I think they use an old lottery machine for the mid-term adjustment quotes.
I'm with them on my daily hack at the moment, as they we're the cheapest, originally, through Confused.com.
Needless to say I will not be renewing with them next year.

Insurance companies are all mental. All of my cars are cheaper in terms of insurance premium if I leave them on the road. If I elect to put them on the secure, gated drive the price goes up. If I then put them in the even more secure locked, alarmed garage, the premium increases further.

Your garage might collapse on the car....

Admiral gave me a quote of 1k+ over the phone once, I'd just got a price of around £350 from Admiral through a comparison site with the same details, which they agreed to match. All very odd.
There are very large internet discounts if you do a quote online, although i would say there must have been some differences which could have had an affect on the price.I called them today to get a quote (mid term) on an E46 M3 CS.
I currently drive an E92 325i and pay an absurd annual premium of £991.00 (37 yrs old, 7 years NCB and gated private parking, 10k miles pa. 1 non fault claim settled by the other insurer and a windscreen claim in the last year).
To move to the M3 they would want £1,370 until Aug 2011 on top of the £991 already paid!

Phoned them and they matched that, happy days all round (although a bit annoying that they try it on with the renewal).
Fast forward to today and More Than call saying they can offer a great deal so I run through the quote to be offered the cracking premium of.... £1100. Guy on the phone sounded slightly put out when I told him my best quote was £550 and it was very unlikely I'd be taking him up on the offer.

If you don't have a tracker fitted to the s2000 it won't be covered for theft of or from the car. Therefore, If you fit a tracker the insurance companys liability increases, so the price goes up. If you park the car on the street, the would be thieves don't know for sure in which house the keys are kept. If you keep it on the driveway they will know with far greater certainty, in which house the keys are kept. If you put the car in a garage, it's more likely to be stolen as you get out of the car to close the garage door and ( probably) leave the keys in it, engine running, door open. The reason it's so much more if you pay monthly is due to the extortionate APR charged for monthly credit.

The apr is only 8.5% for elephant, the reason that it goes up high is because you lose an additional discount for not paying it one off which is around 15%-20% discount.briSk said:
i just did a quote on an S2K and with an immobiliser and a tracker it was £46 MORE than with nothing...!
what the Dickens is that all about?!
It's because if you have those things you are more likely to leave it in a dodgy area for it to get stolen.what the Dickens is that all about?!
Oh no wait, it's just the Random Insurance Price Calculator off again.
