Hi peeps,

A friend has just 'phoned to see if I had any ideas to help her get OUT of her car. She's sitting locked inside a Citroen C3. She says she got in, sorted herself out and when she tried to start the car all the electrics had died, with the central locking having activated. Pressing the keyfob unlock didn't work, pressing the manual door unlock on the dash didn't work.

After I had laughed a bit at her predicament I recommended 'phoning the AA/RAC, which she has done. She's now sat in a freezing cold hotel car park in Aviemore.

Any owners of a C3 know if there's a manual over-ride anywhere on the inside?

I thought cars had to have a manual boot release inside somewhere (or I could just be looking for excuses to send your friend crawling around the car hehe).

There is no way a modern car would be sold were if the electrics died you can't get out. Even the boot has to have an internal maunal open these days.

Tell her to stop being a spakker.

Edit, or just let Darwinism take its course and eliminate her from the gene pool.

I offered the "get in the boot and look around the lock for the release mechanism". Got a "hmmmm, don't have a clue what you're on about" in reply.

Told her to 'phone the hotel and ask if a member of staff can help her out with some jump leads and a car to see if running off their battery can help.

Check tax disc holder or rear window sticker for supplying dealer details. Call them...... Before they close.

Haha!

If it was a bloke the window would have been smashed long ago, and this thread would have been entitled 'Where can I get a replacement driver's window for a C3 urgently?'.

Haha! I'm saying nothing!

I'm finding this all quite funny TBH. Does this make me a bad person? laugh

I hope for her sake its a genuine issue, otherwise there's going to be a lot of beer being bought to keep me schtum to all our friends about it! Actually, after loads of beer I'll probably tell them anyway!

Awesome! Are you sure she's not just somehow activated deadlocks and immobiliser? Has she tried the button on the keyfob? Does sound like she's just sat on it while 'sorting herself out'...!

She's out now! No diagnosis as yet just that "a nice man came out and done something under the bonnet that opened the passenger door!"

Now waiting for the AA to see if they can get some spark back into the car. I can't wait to hear what the problem was! laugh

I have to admit, I was once stuck inside my 3 series. I was tinkering behind the door cards, one was off and in the garage and I was taking the drivers side one off when the heavens opened. As you do I grabbed the now disconnected door card, jumped in the car and shut the door. I then realised the door card, with the interior handle attached, was too big to manoeuvre around inside the car and was too far away from the door mechanism to connect where it was. After a while I managed to operate the door mechanism with my leatherman that was luckily in my pocket. paperbag
