I was driving home from work one day and I passed a Skoda Roomster at 40 mph on the m8 outside glasgow. I looked it up on the internet and it said that it has a top speed of 92mph. Is there a slower car on sale today??

I thought it was only top gear that judged the performance of a car on it's top speed, when would 92mph as a maximum speed be a problem for most?

Flanders.

Technically not a car. I think legally it's called a spazmocycle or a ttgo or something

because a low top speed generally means slow acceleration across the speed ranges. (lightweight sports cars exempt)

OP said he saw the Skoda at 40mph on the m8 in Glasgow, if you can get to the actual lawful speed limit on that stretch (50mph limit for the most part) you're doing very well smile

In terms of acceleration and top speed I'd think the LR Defender is in with a shout for being one of the slowest on both accounts.

Yup, rather than the traditional electronic limiter that Mercedes or BMW might put on their cars, LR decided to go for the more traditional limiter; "power" and "aerodynamics" hehe

Maybe the Matiz 0.8 auto? 0-60 in 21.2 seconds and 84mph flat out.

Farmers across the land where moaning when they managed to get the 0-60 down to 15 seconds.

You may mock but the latest model packs a frankly awe-inspiring 70bhp/tonne.

That's taking a niche to the nth degree.
