Hope this is okay posting in GG for opinions on a prospective change of car? Anyway, i run a Ford Focus at the minute, perfectly acceptaple means of getting from one place to another, but soon i'll be changing and fancy a number of different cars, the MK1 TT being one of them.
So, all comments, recommendations, things to look out for etc etc.

I like the look of them as well, the early ones still seem a bit steep to me, but I'm tight!
However I have been a passenger in one and the interior is good however I found the view out of the side windows annoying as I had to lean forward to get a decent view. Not sure I could live with this daily. Other than that I'd probably still have one but not in dark blue , I do like silver but black would also suffice.
Good luck in your search.

If you're expecting a sports car, you'll be a bit disappointed. However, accept it for what it is and they make a good buy. Ok, so they are not the last word in handling finesse and can feel a bit wooden, however, they're nicely made, reasonably quick and grippy and still pretty stylish. It's an S3 with a slightly funky body. You could do a lot worse IMHO
I had a convertible one a few years ago. I maintain that for the money, few cars do so many things so well.
To qualify that, there are several cars that beat the TT hands down in specific areas, but if you want something that looks good, has a lovely interior, is good in the wet, has decent performance (get a 225 and map it) and is quite cheap to run, then you can't go far wrong with a TT.
In terms of model revisions, there was a minor facelift in 2003 that saw a different grill, lowered suspension and 18 inch wheels as standard.

My mate at work had a mk1 225, quite an early one on a Y reg.
Had quite a few problems with it and the build quality wasnt great, i.e the rattles inside were pretty bad.
Issues he had were with wheel bearing, fuel filler cap sticking closed or open, the rattles as mentioned, turbo went after 40k miles (probably his fault) and used to run rich (possible AFM or similar)
Despite these, he loved it. The above were in quite a short space of time, but i guess nothing too major when you consider costs etc.

I'd have a Ford Focus over an Audi TT.So, all comments, recommendations, things to look out for etc etc.
