I have never been a badge snob but I like reasonably good looking cars.

Judging from these pictures Hyundai's might start to catch my eye...

Second one looks quite nice but the first looks like a knock-off Corsa VXR.

First one is a Brabus I20 Sport!

No definate engine options but there is talk of a 150bhp petrol or diesel option.

Is the first one actually a hot hatch or is it just some badges and wheels?

The New Genesis is very nice indeed. Very nicely built, with good materials, and a decent engine to boot, complete with RWD! Hyundai are, I feel, at least level with Honda in the car stakes at the moment.

that's good idea, recently Korean cars are ok, the only thing is the depreciation, but if you are using for a long term runner it's ok

Agreed the Genesis is a good car, test drove one before being tempted by Ford's zero percent financing and massive sticker price discounts.

The 4 cylinder turbo was a better drive than the V6, I suspect a tuned 2.0T R spec would offer an unbeatable bang/buck ratio in it's sector.

Bottom one is interesting, though the top one looks like every other small car released in the last 5 years

Well, I feel you haven't driven one recently then. The Sonata is easily as equal to the accord. The range is doing very well quality wise.

It took Honda 30 years to get where it's at now , don't tell me Hyundai can do it in 10

There's no doubt the Far East manufacturers are looking a lot more serious these days. Both Hyundai and Kia are churning out some pretty effective automotive white goods. Chevrolet (Daewoo) too.

In the meantime Renault has got cold feet over launching its cheap and cheerful East European brand into the UK - Dacia (built in Romania)

If you were in the market for a run off the mill car (Ford/Renault/Vauxhall etc), you'd be mad to choose anything other than a Kia/Hyundai instead surely?
